Easy Szechuan Beef Recipe
Hot and Spicy
This is relatively easy recipe that can pack a punch or just give a little kick depending on how hot you want it. This recipe can also be made easier by looking for precut beef for stir fry at your local grocer.
Ingredients:
1 pound flank steak (or precut beef for stir fry)
1/4 cup bottled chili sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon cooking sherry (optional just adds a little flavor)
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon to 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (this will decide the heat of your dish)
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 cloves of minced garlic
1 small bunch of green onions cut into 1 inch pieces
Directions:
Cut steak in half lengthwise id using a whole steak. Then cut into 1/8 inch strips.
Mix chili sauce, soy sauce, sherry, cornstarch, ginger and red pepper flakes. Set aside for later.
Heat one tablespoon of oil in large skillet. Add garlic and green onions and stir fry for one minute. Remove to a bowl with a slotted spoon.
Add remaining 2 tablespoons of oil to skillet. Add steak slices and stir fry until no pink shows. Add meat to bowl with green onions and garkic.
Add chili sauce mixture to skillet heat until bubbling. Stir in meat, green onion, and garlic. cook until all ingredients are heated and coated with chili sauce mixture. Great with rice or Chinese noodles.
